Admissions Open : Nursery to Grade 8 (CBSE) for School Year 2026–27

Education is the most important tool to shape the future of our country. At Vedanya, we have always strived to provide children with a holistic learning experience that goes beyond the traditional rote learning methods. We firmly believe that interdisciplinary learning is the change that the Indian education system needs.

For decades, the Indian education system has focused on rote learning, where students memorize information and reproduce it in examinations. This approach has its limitations, as it does not allow students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. The emphasis on rote learning has resulted in a system where students are unable to apply the knowledge they have gained in real-life situations.

Interdisciplinary learning, on the other hand, takes a holistic approach to education. It is an approach that connects multiple disciplines and encourages students to see the interconnectedness of various subjects. In an interdisciplinary learning environment, students are taught to think outside the box and are encouraged to explore different perspectives.

At Vedanya, we have implemented interdisciplinary learning in our curriculum. We have designed our courses in such a way that our learners are exposed to multiple disciplines, and they are taught to integrate their knowledge from different subjects. For example, we focus on sustainability and how it relates to the environment. We go beyond just the scientific principles of sustainability and delve into the social, economic, and political implications of sustainable practices. By doing so, our learners gain a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainability and how it can positively impact our world.

Interdisciplinary learning has several advantages over rote learning. Firstly, it allows children to develop critical thinking skills. They are taught to analyze problems from different perspectives and come up with solutions that are creative and innovative. This is a valuable skill that can help children in their future careers.

Secondly, interdisciplinary learning encourages collaboration. In an interdisciplinary learning environment, children work in teams, and they learn how to work with people from different backgrounds and with different skill sets. This is an important skill that is highly valued in the workplace.

Thirdly, interdisciplinary learning helps children to see the big picture. In an interdisciplinary learning environment, they are taught to see how different subjects are connected, and they learn to think beyond the confines of a single subject. This helps learners to develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

Finally, interdisciplinary learning encourages lifelong learning. When children are taught to integrate knowledge from different subjects, they develop a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. They learn to see the relevance of what they are learning to their lives, and they are more likely to continue learning even after they leave school.

Implementing interdisciplinary learning in the Indian education system is not without its challenges. One of the biggest challenges is the lack of resources. Interdisciplinary learning requires a lot of resources, including trained educators, technology, and infrastructure. Unfortunately, many schools in India do not have access to these resources.Another challenge is the resistance to change. Many parents, teachers, and administrators are resistant to change, and they prefer the traditional rote learning methods. This resistance to change can be a significant barrier to implementing interdisciplinary learning in schools. Despite these challenges, we believe that interdisciplinary learning is the change that the Indian education system needs. We need to move away from the traditional rote learning methods and embrace a more holistic approach to education. We need to teach our children to think critically, work collaboratively, and see the big picture. By doing so, we can prepare them for the challenges of the future and help them to become lifelong learners.
